The setting was at 3 minutes; which I changed to 1 minute. Since I've become aware of the problem, I haven't had a friend call me with a pocket dialing experience. It is possible that after making a call before, I just put the phone back in my jacket pocket without shutting it off.

Check settings - general - auto lock. If it's set to "never" that might be the problem.
