It's not legit, of course. It's possible that we've had either had a bot scraping the RSS feed (disabled now in 2013) or a mole member collecting email addresses. They send spam from a similar-sounding name and many will believe it's something they need to read. Of course, as you recognized, spammers usually do a very poor job of that. For one, none of our posts are ever sourced from a blog.
  
  So far, I've received two of these "New Blog Entry" messages, both yesterday, and that's it. 
  
  I report all spam to its sending host, and all hosts linked in the message body, (automatically) to Spamcop.net. If I get more, I'll report those too. I encourage everyone to do the same.
