There are a variety of known things which increase battery drainage, notably:
having Bluetooth on when it isn't needed
having Wifi on when it isn't needed
having cellular data on when it isn't needed
having GPS active when it isn't needed
leaving the screen on when it isn't needed, or having its setting brighter than needed
Beyond that, Apple has stated that after 1000 FULL discharge/recharge cycles, the battery's capacity should be at least 80% of when it was new (and you are unlikely to have met that criterion -- 1000 cycles -- in a 4S yet).
Even out of warranty (1 year or 2 years, depending), they should check and repair/replace for a defective battery if that criterion is not met.

That sounds more like a defect of the 3rd-party charging case than of the iPhone.
