Jim,
Check, you may be able to purchase AppleCare, but I know they have recently changed the AppleCare for the iPhone. It might be worth it. For me, I buy it automatically for iPhones.

My adapter arrived via Fed Ex today. I went to pick it up, but it was still on the truck.
Ellen - the problem I'm more concerned with is, if this charging issue grows worse... if I can no longer charge my iPhone... if I am out of warranty, then I will have to pay for the new cord. At least now I'm in my one-year, so Apple Care will give me the new cord (as long as I return the old one within ten days).

My adaptor whether Apple or not does the same thing. I have to flip it up or down and then the light appears. I guess I'm not convinced it is something wrong with the adaptor. It could be, but as long as it works and charges up my machine, I'll use it. I am ordering some more adaptors, some oem some not just in case. I worry that eventually there will be a new adapter I'll be stuck as long as we can keep our computers longer.
