Anne, when is the last time you upgraded your iOS? Unless you have a very
old version on your phone, you should be able to do the upgrade from your
phone, without connecting it to a computer. On your phone, go to
Settings>General>Software Update. If it is currently version 6.0 or above
(I think, maybe 5.something), it should give you the option to upgrade right
from there. You will need to have a good Wi-Fi signal, and probably want to
have your phone plugged in to a charger just to be on the safe side, because
the upgrade(s) can take a while.
If you don't have the option to upgrade from your phone, then tell us what
you see on iTunes on your computer when you plug your phone into your
computer.

Subject: [apple-iphone] iphone 4 - Need to upgrade iOS
I need to upgrade my iOS. Can someone tell me "in kinder garden language"
how I can do this. I have the iPhone 4.
Thank you in advance for any help. First of all I had called Verizon. I
was going to have to go on iTunes and do several things or they said I could
take it to our local store and they could do it very quickly. I decided it
would be easier for me to take to the store. Well, I did that today and was
told that part of their computers were locked and that I would just have to
do it from my computer. She wrote a few things that I should do, but after
opening iTunes, I could not even find the very first link that she told me
to click on. My Husband, that really knows computers, could not find it
either!
So, please help!
Thank you.
Just me!
Anne
