The macworld.co.uk did not work on my US, formerly ATT iPhone 4S.
It has been unlocked for over a year. Mine shows Cellular Data, but no Network.
The screen shot in the article, I am guessing, is from a iPad with a UK carrier, O2. The Cellular Data, Data Roaming, & Personal Hotspot are in a different order from mine. And the split frame shows the Carrier, which on the US iOS is under Settings/ General/ About, not Settings/ Cellular or Mobile.

You can also connect to iTunes on your computer to do a Restore and that will unlock the phone and give you that message at the end of the process.Pat
