Similar here now, NZ$149 to upgrade. Its like renting. Here at least, I did the math, its cheaper to get the phone on the same 24 month interest free, and sell it after the year as we will get more from a one year iphone than saving paying the last 12 months which is 50% of the cost, so you are in effect trading in the one year old iPhone for 50% retail value, yet you could sell it for more like 75% retail value.

To Tony in NZ. I believe the reference was to Apples new program in the states. You get your phone from the apple store. I think it's unlocked to use with any carrier. You pay xxx every month till you die! Every year you get the new phone. In sure you have to surrender your old one. It thirty something US dollars. Mike R
