Is the consensus that this is a good deal? Its like selling your one year old phone for half price, but I feel the pre owned price of a one year old iPhone is far more than 50% new price.

I believe the reference was to Apples new program in the states. You get your phone from the apple store. I think it's unlocked to use with any carrier. You pay xxx every month till you die! Every year you get the new phone. In sure you have to surrender your old one.
The full price of whichever (unlocked) phone you select, plus Applecare+, is prorated over 24 months at 0% interest.
After 12 months or more, you can return the phone for a new model, and renew the payment plan. Or you can pay the balance of the total amount, own the phone, and stop there, or keep the old phone AND buy a new one as well.
