Authorized chargers are not perfect either.  Apple is doing a recall in 37 countries.

Products made by humans will occasionally have defects.

An important aspect is whether or not the maker assumes responsibility.

No such recall (of a "rare" defect) is ever likely to occur for Chinese-made chargers bought over the internet.
