I admit I don't treat my cables gingerly but I don't abuse them either
My first iPhone cable (3G) failed quickly and Apple charged my card. $20 to send a new one and I had to send the old one back
When the Griffin in my car failed, I called them and had a new one in two days - no charge and no return - never failed again
