Since the nearest Apple Store is about 90 minutes away, try calling AppleCare. They may just mail you a cable. 


I do that to trouble shoot things before I go in to the Apple Store 15 minutes away, just to cover things that might miss, without having to drag in other items.

Every 5c in the world is less than 1 year old, and therefore still under warranty.
Take it to an Apple Store.
