A long time ago I had this problem with my first iPhone 3GS with AT&T. I called them and supposedly they made an adjustment to the length of times the phone rings before voicemail. It has worked. No problems with a 4s and now a 5s. If you find that your do not disturb is NOT on, give your carrier a call.

I have iPhone 5 with IOS 7.1.1. I have missed many calls in the last several weeks, even though the phone is laying right next to me or in my pocket. It does not ring, though it does show I missed a call and who from. The sound works fine for everything else. I have no problem calling out myself. I have checked the Sound Settings and selected "Classic: Digital" as the Default. When I check that in the Settings dialogue it rings fine when I test it. Loud and clear. I go to the individual caller in the Contact list and go to Edit and select Default. Still doesn't work when they call me. Now I have tried editing a few of these individuals in the Contact list and changed the ringtone in their card to Digital instead of Default and it still doesn't ring when they call me. It does show that I missed the call and who it was from.I had a friend come over. She called my iPhone on her cell phone. I was sitting within a few feet of her. It did not ring, but on her phone it showed that it only rang once and went directly to voicemail. She tried once more and this time my phone did ring and I was able to answer normally. I have tried calling my cell phone from my land line, and it rings like it is supposed to. I am mystified. Any suggestions?CMartin
