A long time ago I had this problem with my first iPhone 3GS with AT&T. I called them and supposedly they made an adjustment to the length of times the phone rings before voicemail. It has worked. No problems with a 4s and now a 5s. If you find that your do not disturb is NOT on, give your carrier a call.

I have iPhone 5 with IOS 7.1.1. I have missed many calls in the last several weeks, even though the phone is laying right next to me or in my pocket. It did not ring, but on her phone it showed that it only rang once and went directly to voicemail. She tried once more and this time my phone did ring and I was able to answer normally. I have tried calling my cell phone from my land line, and it rings like it is supposed to. I am mystified. Any suggestions?CMartin
