Re: [apple-iphone] Unlimited how important

Just FWIW, FYI, my son received a new iPhone 4S for Christmas this year - he received a text from AT&T in December that if he used much more data on his "unlimited" plan, his download speeds would go down. On investigating with an AT&T agent, we were told that for his "unlimited" phone data, it really meant that 1) he could use only 5 GB/month, and that 2) if he went over this, his download speeds would decrease until the end of the billing period. There was an option available for I think an additional $10/month, to increase this "unlimited" plan to to 10 GB/month.

Unlimited plans never promised "unlimited download speeds"; they only promised that there would be no set limit on the quantity of data you could download.

All plans, in fact, are somewhat limited by the download speeds available and the  amount of time in a month.
