I brought this issue up in the past, and although I received some suggestions, I never got to the bottom of it....
Before I get deeper into this, here are the details: Problem occurred with iPhone 5 (64GB) and iPhone 6 (128GB), as well as with an iPad mini retina (128 Gb). Both phones and iPad always updated when new software was released. Computer was a Toshiba Satellite notebook with Windows 7, and also kept up-to-date, with both iTunes updates and Windoze updates done regularly when released. 500 GB hard drive in notebook with over 110 GB free.
Also, complete iTunes uninstall and reinstall attempted. As in all directories, etc, CLEAN wipe and install of ITunes.
Basically, on two separate iPhones and an iPad, with multiple cables, I had sync issues. Namely, sometimes (USUALLY) the sync would take an hour to SEVERAL HOURS.
On the last attempt to sync, my iPhone6 and PC were stuck on step "8 of 8" for - get this - over 9 hours.
As I mentioned, this has occurred through various iterations of ITunes, iPhones, iPads, and cables. The PC is the common denominator.
It was either the PC hardware itself, or the PC software somewhere other than iTunes. Best guess, anyway. Virus scans, malware scans, spyware scans, etc., all done regularly.
Well, long story short, the computer is getting replaced. It was a 4 year old notebook, and I was pretty much tired of it anyway.
I am trying to decide whether to go MAC or PC. I am very familiar with PC, actually having built some desktops back "in the day", and having played with them for 20 some years.
What I don't want is a repeat issue down the road. So, my bottom line question is this: what is average sync time with MACs? Are they actually better than PC - as in for use with iPhone?
I pretty much only use a computer for backing up my iDevices, and downloading large files. Otherwise I use the iPad or iPhone for most uses (surfing, email, music).
Suggestions?
