1. You can ALWAYS download iOS updates and update your devices through iTunes.
2. The file(s) to be downloaded differ for different devices, even iPhone 5 versus 5S; maybe even CDMA iPhone 5 versus GSM iPhone 5.
So you may still have to download 4 files, 1 each when connected to the 4 devices.
