The viral wipes have not been proven to destroy or distort the properties of the screen on the iPhone according to my inquiry to Apple. (Apple neither condones nor negates the use of these wipes. They simple state to keep moisture away from any point of entry.)
What is important is for you to do whatever satisfies your needs/desired and does not exceed your own personal comfort level.
