I don't normally download within the first 24 hours, nor did I this time. I waited two days, which is usually plenty, given that I normally do a download and then install as a separate action. This is the first time I've ever seen time estimates this long or fluctuations in the estimates that varied this wildly. BTW, I updated my husband's iPhone 5c yesterday, and ran into the same thing. I'm guessing that more people are jumping right into updating than usually have in the past. All of the updates were successful, so that's not the problem. I was just commenting on how different the experience was this time. Sandy> > This is the most trouble I've ever had with updating an iOS! My usual procedure is to download the update in iTunes, just in case there's a glitch in the download process. Then I do the update. No problem at all either on my iPhone 5s or my iPad Air. This time, however, I kept getting told that the download would take 12-14 hours, so I decided to bite the bullet and do an over-the-air update this time. Big mistake. I've been getting messages to say that it would take 10 minutes, then 15, then 6, then 60, etc. > > Do you normally download the upgrade in the first 24 hours after it is released? > Or wait a day or three? Or ten? > I'm sure the servers are heavily loaded.
