To my surprise I found I am using data usage when checking email while on home WiFi, even with the Cellular Data turned off. I have contacted Consumer Cellular but they seem to be unfamiliar with iPhone 5s.
That is one reason I'm afraid to switch carriers! Someone else will have to comment, but I'm not sure data roaming needs to be on unless you are traveling. Is that correct? I often turn off cellular data for apps that I don't use a lot. I get a message if I am out of the house and need a particular app and then I turn it on.
