I would go to a carrier store, Best Buy, Walmart or a similar outlet & compare the two phones.

Judy, I have a 5s, and the speaker quality on it is probably comparable to that on the 4. It's a very small speaker doing the best it can. A good alternative would be a bluetooth earpiece. It would give you more privacy and better quality.
