In the Contacts app, you should see "Groups" at the top left. Tap on that and then tap on one or more of your established groups to see only the people included there. Click on "All iCloud" to see all of them. This, of course, assumes that you have your contact list in iCloud.

I have created several groups of contacts. I have assigned names to each group. How can I see a list of my defined groups so I can select one to send a message to?

Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.
