Yes, I could use the phone with no problem and recieve text messages too when cellular was turned off, just not group text messages or pictures. But after 5 days, it is at 1.4 mb so I have a long way to go until I hit my 2 GB so trying not to worry about it anymore. My concern was because my iPhone 4 did not do this but in getting this new iphone 6 I also switched from AT&T to Verizon and I started to wonder if I made the right move. My husband did talk to someone in a Verizon store today. This rep told him he has no idea why it's using data when I am on wifi but agreed with everyone that it is minimal and will make no difference in the end. Thanks for all the input and help.
