Sorry I didn't ask / look for iPhones availability at the AT&T store. I went there to trade in my old iPhone and find a case and invisible shield for the iPhone 6+ that I had pre-ordered on opening day and received through Fedex on September 23.

One of my friends said he walked into Apple shop at Grand Central Station couple of days back on his way to work and lucky to find an iPhone 6+. I don't remember the configuration/ color.

I did not try the others like BestBuy, Radio Shack etc. as I went to AT&T for trading inmy old iPhone and liked this case.

Before activating or removing the plastic of my 6+, I had installed Incipio highland folio case which I found is thin and strong and does not add to bulk together with zagg invisible shield both from the ATT shop. They incidentally offered a 10% discount on the case and shield

Should I be more nervous about the large screen suffering damage without a case that also covers the screen? I'v dropped my 5S many times and the case protects the screens since it protrudes a little, but does not actually cover the screen.

and it cost 10.99 compared to the $40 Apple case. It fits like a glove and it provides about the same protection that I would suppose the Apple case would. I didn't want to spend too much for a case after my investment in the phone - but I didn't want to carry around my phone in an Otterbox case (not available yet) which I know is the best protection but it adds weight and bulk from past experience. I may change my mind later but what I have now is great.
