Chuck,
I have not called Apple yet - I can do this later in the week when I have time.As for what versions - it has been through various versions, but as I said in my previous message, it's the most current for both iTunes and the iPhone 6 (8.0.2?). I don't know the iTunes version number offhand, but it is the most recent / up to date. However, the 5 had the issue with both the previous version if iTunes and iOS 7.
If it makes a difference, I have no audiobooks. Also, it is always the last step (7 or 8) where it hangs up. Backup shows normal progress, as do the other steps, etc. but it hangs-up on the "importing photos" (even if none are new) and "waiting for changes to be applied".

If you have AppleCare on the 5 you could have call them before, but since you have a new iPhone 6, you can definitely call them.It also helps if you tell us what version of iTunes and iOS you are running on the various iPhones. I had a problem syncing with the early versions of iOS 7, that took a update. It was a problem with recognizing audiobooks.BrentOn Sep 28, 2014, at 10:37 AM, Charles the_chuckmann@yahoo.com [apple-iphone] wrote:Dear listers,
I do believe I've mentioned this problem before on list, but it's still unresolved and getting very irritating.
My syncs with iTunes are taking forever.... As in usually HOURS, even when nothing is really changed.
I've narrowed it down to my PC (Toshiba notebook, all Windoze updates in place, and well over 100 GB free on the hard drive).
Both my 1 3/4 year old iPhone 5 (64GB), and my new (1 week old today) iPhone 6 (128GB), as well as my 6 month to old iPad mini (128 GB) are ALL experiencing the same problem.
Also, multiple cables (including NEW Apple cables) have the same result, so it's NOT the cable.
Newest version of iTunes; but old version was also equally slow, AND device software always up to date.
I'm about ready to wipe and restore the PC; but that's hours I just don't have right now, plus I need to first get a larger external HD to do a full backup. Yes, I've considered a hardware issue (USB port?) but the USB ports work with various thumbdrives, my Garmin GPS, cameras, etc.
I've googled slow sync issues and have no definitive answer.
Does anyone know a fix for this?
