If you decide to upgrade on the Next program, don't you still have to pay of the Next contract on your old phone?

You return the phone with the NEXT program & I was allowed to keep my iPhone5s which was under contract with no penalty. I don't know if you are "required" to update each year, but that is what I always do. I view it exactly as a lease program, but the monthly fees are less on NEXT than buying on contract so the annual cost to me is the same with the assumption that I sell each 'old' model for $300.

ordered the 64GB iPhone6 using the NEXT program. The only thing I had to do to begin using the phone was to activate it (www.att.com/activations) which was a very speedy process. The instructions for the activation were included on a printed flyer in the box with the phone. I did not try putting the SIM card from the 5s into the 6.
