Here's how to get the entire image to appear on your lock screen... or wallpaper also.
Open the image so it fills your screen. Now, hold down both the home key and the sleep button briefly, then let go. You should hear a small click. This is taking a screen shot of your image. Now, go to settings and wallpaper. Find that screen shot in your photos there, and click on it. Click on where it says save as lock screen. Voila!
