Re: [apple-iphone] cords

Only thing coming up is that the USB part is reversible. But that would not make a difference. I'm of the idea that since Apple has recently changed to lightening connector, it would not change atleast for another 5 versions unless something worth while comes up.

Re: [apple-iphone] New case for 4S, but iPhone no longer connects to portable Bose unit

I looked at the Otterbox website, but I didn't see this item listed. I'll send an email to see if it's still available, thanks!

Nicholas,

Otterbox makes a dock extension that will plug into the 30 pin port and then you can plug the other end into the Bose unit. I'm sure you can purchase directly from Otterbox or look online like at Amazon.

Long story short, I briefly lost my iPhone 4S when the case I was using parted company with its belt clip. But even if I could re-attach the case to the belt clip, I no longer trusted it.

To replace it, I had somewhat limited options at my local stores, so I ended up with an Otterbox, which is not just a carrier, but actually completely encases the phone. It works fine as a protection for the phone, but it is too big to allow me to plug the phone into my Bose portable sound dock, which we've been using for several years to provide music in whatever room we're in at home. The case is just thick enough and the protective flap for the connector is just bulky enough that I can't seat the iPhone on the unit.

It's too much of a hassle to take the 4S out of the Otterbox every time I want to hear some music, so I'm wondering if there are "extenders" for the 4S connector that I could use to attach the 4S to the Bose? I haven't seen any in Best Buy or Future Shop, and the staff just look at me strangely when I try to describe what I need...

Nicholas

I had a similar problem, also with the Bose portable sound dock. I purchased a bluetooth module that plugs into the dock at the docking station for the phone. I do not remember the brand but i purchased it on Amazon for about $20. I couldn't be  happier with it.

Re: [apple-iphone] Home button not working

I was able to get to an Apple store; by Tuesday I should have a new phone.  It is the battery. Just wish I had taken it in sooner. so I'd have it right now.

Thanks,

Doris

Re: [apple-iphone] Home button not working

Since Siri works by connecting to Apple. Sounds like Siri could not connect to Apple.

What else is happening to make you think the Home button is not working properly?

I need to take my phone in because the home button isn't working. If I press it long enough it just goes to Siri who usually can't take my request right now

Any idea how long it would take to repair it and a rough estimate if cost?

I am traveling so this is so inconvenient.

Thanks,

Doris

Re: [apple-iphone] Home button not working

If the home button REALLY is not working, you can use the assistive touch accessibility feature to use your phone. See this article:

If it activates Siri, then it clearly IS working, at least somewhat — probably enough that the following suggestion might work:

Have you done a hard reset (Home and On/Off button held down until the Apple logo appears)?

Any idea how long it would take to repair it and a rough estimate if cost?

Some folks have fixed a sticky Home button with a very small amount of 70% alcohol, and "exercising" the button.

What iPhone?
Long out of warranty?
