RE: [apple-iphone] Sync VERY slow

chuck, I'll take minor issue with your last sentence in that we don't know what we don't know. there's no way to ever definitively prove that your PC is virus/malware free 'cause you can't prove that something you can't detect is not there. you don't mention what you are scanning your PC with but let's just assume that your PC IS free of those little nasties. what else could be causing the problem? Win7 is a very stable platform so if it's not a virus it must be something else that is installed or a faulty component of Win7 and that can be tough to track down.

I think your next move is to try a sync on another PC. if you don't have a second Win7 PC you surely must know someone else with a Win7 PC that either has iTunes on it or would permit you to run an experiment. see if you can do that and if the experience is different. if your iP5 syncs quickly then yes, I would agree the problem is in your PC and we can go from there. otherwise the issue may be in your phone.

Group,

For some months I've been dealing with VERY slow sync issues. Sometimes it takes up to two hours. But, I was reluctant to restore my iPhone 5 (64GB) to factory settings, just because I have my iPhone the way I want it. I have about 8-12 GB free, so it's not full. I have a laptop PC running Windows 7. It was not always this slow.....Anyway, I have tried other cords (Factory and Belkin), with no change. Fast forward to yesterday - new iPad mini retina, 128 GB. New cord, etc. Set up as new. This sync also took HOURS. I expected it would some time, as I'm loading a lot of files on it. But it's been running at least 12 hours for about 75 GB. Obviously I'm therefore thinking my PC is the issue. Any ideas if this is a software or hardware issue? I do regular back-ups, and I plan to do a restore on the PC at some point this week - unless someone has a better idea. I really hate to do that, but I can't be having a two hour sync every time; and I like to keep my stuff backed up. I would note that the USB ports work fine with my other items (Garmin GPS, Kindle, etc.) with no issues. So I'm thinking it's software. And, yes, I have updated iTunes. I've also deleted and reinstalled iTunes. The PC is clean as far as virus, spyware, malware.
