This article, while stating "if its true" certainly comes across as factual. I feel these days that the rumour mill is more a leak mill, the 5S and 5C were remarkably close to accurate.

Assuming its true-ish, I am not in favour of thinner and thinner. My wife prefers her 4S as its solid. If the so called 5.5" iPhone Air is too thin to get a good battery life, make it not so thin, solid, MUCH battery, I am sure many prefer longer battery life than shaving a few more mm off the device. As they get bigger, the thin factor decreases strength
