I remember having to discard and replace a couple of apps with an OS upgrade 3-4 years ago. Since then, pretty much everything I use has been updated to work with the new OSes, or didn't need updating to work with them.

In iOS 7, *automatic* updating of apps is controlled in Settings. If it is turned Off, the user must go into the App Store and actively choose the Apps to update (just like in previous iterations of iOS).

So far, I have had 78 apps get updated since installing iOS 7.
If you have a particular app that isn't working in iOS 7, and there does not seem to be an update for it, you could let us know what app, since someone here might already have found a fix. Or you could contact the developer to inquire about it.
