It depends on how much you want to pay. The Apple cord will be expensive and if you have a large electronics store (similar to Frys), you should be able to buy a non-Apple cord for under $12; which would be even less when they are on sale. What I've noticed with the non-Apple cord, when I plug the phone into it, there is a message that comes up on the screen telling me that it has not been plugged into a genuine Apple cord; which hasn't been a problem.
