Re: [apple-iphone] Issues with Upgrading to iOS7

Thank you. I've not had any problems before with upgrades or iOS updates and this one was also quick and no problem. It just upgraded and put everything back as it was. I checked on the items that others mentioned they had problems with and thankfully all looks ok. So far at least. :-)

I've had a 4 then 4S then 5 and iPad 1,2,3. Each time I restored from backup when upgrading and when each has been OS upgraded I've never had an issue.

Prior to if do an app update ,  sync which also transfers purchasers and backs up. Then I do the deed

Hmm, I wonder if there was a way to prevent the losses and what would that be? I mean, I figured a backup should have taken all that into account and put things back where they were and not 'lost' things... Is there another way that one can do a backup other than through iTunes? I'm worried about the PDFs in iBooks and podcasts. I don't do much with videos.

You're correct, YMMV, but I also had issues. I'd like to see if we had other similarities.

Dave, how's the partner's iPhone 4 syncing? Are they syncing to the same computer, and what to what OS?

Where did you keep your home videos and reference PDFs? I assume the podcasts were inside your iTunes library.

Since you have reset everything to your liking, it is too late to call AppleCare, but may I ask that you send in a detailed Feedback?

iTunes has not follow what I believe to be the standard organization of folders inside the iTunes & iTunes Media(Music) folder. But then I have mine on an external HD, and have brought it forward since about 2005. I straightened it up, yet again, and it messed it up yet again.

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 7.0.3. My partner has an iPhone 4 running 6.0.x. Sitting side by side there is no question that apps launch faster on the older iOS. Anything that manipulates large files either locally (like Videos) or over the Internet (like Netflix) runs faster on the older iOS.

There are a number of inconveniences with the upgrade: all my home-ripped video has been separated into a category called "home video." The podcast app is practically unusable. iBooks "lost" all the PDFs I had saved as reference material.

Apple seems to think they are smarter than I so a number of settings were changed from what I had set.

Getting missing data back and going through all the settings took a couple of hours. I keep thinking of sending Apple an invoice. *grin*

In your place I wouldn't upgrade until forced to by availability of an app important to me.

YMMV and obviously a lot of people don't agree with me.
