Patti has already given a reply, and she spent a lot of time on it.
But where is home for digngen? Who is your cellular provider? I'll bet the articles are not dated and one is from the UK, it may not apply in the US or Canada.
You know, you are also going to get international charges for calls to and from the phone, correct? The best way to get up to date information is to check with your provider. Check to see if they have any plans that would work for you.
Sometimes you need to check a couple of times to make sure you are given correct information.

I am tech-challenged. .I have an iPhone5 I need to know: (1) How do I turn off Data.? (2) What I can and cannot do when Data is turned off? (3) How do I turn Dada back on? Thank-you in advance for your help!
