Ever since reading on Ken Rockwell's site that he makes up a lot of stuff, I haven't paid any attention to him, and have disregarded any explanations or opinion he offers.
That said, in this era of microelectronic (e.g., the Apple Pencil or the AirPod), the main reason for size in electronic devices is power handling capacity.
