Then they should have iApps, etc., applications similar to iTunes to manage apps, movies, books, etc. Not to mention a backup for data such as contacts, calendars, notes, blah blah. Having to go thru a dozen different things to back up the iPhone is not good.

Many have said so.
On the other hand, many have been telling Apple for years to separate out of iTunes things that are not "iTunes", including Apps, Movies, Videos, TV shows, Books, …
