[apple-iphone] audiobooks -- another mysterious iOS problem

I listen to a LOT of audiobooks -- more than 70 so far this year. Some of these are in aa or aax formats (the Audible formats), and some are mp3. I do sometimes use the Audible app, but I prefer an app called Bookmobile. Amongst many other things, Bookmobile will play multiple book formats, while Audible plays only Audible's own formats.

Here's my problem: after upgrading to iOS 11, I can no longer play aax files in Bookmobile. They will still play in Audible, and Bookmobile will still play mp3 files. I've checked for a Bookmobile update -- no luck so far, at least.

I've already written to the Bookmobile folks for help, but no response so far. I'm considering purchasing an aax-to-mp3 converter, but that's both a pain and an expense I don't much want to deal with if I don't have to.

In the meantime, can anyone come up with any ideas?
