If I am not grossly mistaken,
An unlocked iPhone can be used anywhere in the world with any service provider who provide a GSM service.
Just ensure you get an appropriate size sim, mini or micro as applicable. If they provide only normal size sim, any street side mobile shop will cut it for you.
You can chose not to use cellular data, which is generally expensive.
Wherever you get free wifi like hotel, airport etc your phone can be used with wifi.
