OK, I clicked the shuffle all button and it is no longer blazing red. I was afraid to touch it for fear that it would move my stuff around.

All worked well today but I won't know for sure until I have more "songs" than my usual three in the album.

I don't really know, but I would start by tapping the Shuffle All button to assure that it is no longer highlighted.  That method works for playing music.
