[apple-iphone] iPhone 5 won't make a sound when it receives a message

 

My wife's iPhone 5 doesn't make a sound when it receives a message. I checked Settings>Notifications>Messages and find that the notification sound is set to tri-tone classic and and it makes a sound when I try it, 

In Settings>Sounds> The text tone is shown as tri-tone and also classic and makes a sound when I try it on her phone.

But if I send a message from my phone, she gets the message but no notification. 

Anyone help with this mystery?
