Jim, when I disconnect my Ethernet cable, my Apple TV does not work...nothing streams. I can AIRPLAY from Iphone to TV wirelessly but I cannot get my Apple TV to go to the channels selected unless that ethernet cable is plugged in.

And the ethernet cable isn't needed, either – it can all be done Wifi.
