Thanks. I was at Wallgreens yesterday and It worked the first time after getting it close enough to the terminal. Then I forgot to add an item. So the cashier deleted the whole transaction and I tried again, but then I couldn't get it to go thru at all. Finally it was easier to get my card out and use that. I didn't know about not oppening up passbook. Then I guess I don't have to open the phone at all except to make sure it is on, right? I'll read the link you sent as well
