[apple-iphone] Re: iPhone 6 or 6+

Thank you all. I'm certainly interested in your opinions and you brought up points that I did not think about. I have looked at the phones - 6 & 6+, but need to look again. I love the image stabilization on the 6+ as that is a big improvement for photos. I didn't realize that the phone is heavy enough to require two hands. I have an upper body and hand strength problem, and never considered the weight. I was more concerned with the size of the phone fitting in my hand and that worked OK for me. Also when looking at Verizon, I wasn't thinking about a folio cover adding to the weight. I love the idea of a bigger screen, but the weight will be a factor.

The iPhone 6+ is a phone.
And all smart phones are computers.

Except, of course, when a smaller screen is better on your computer.

The iPhone 6 Plus is not a phone. It is a pocket computer with several ancillary hardware items, one of which is a cellular telephone. As with most computers, a larger screen is usually better than a smaller screen.

Yes, I like the iPhone Plus. The larger size is better for use as a navigator and for watching videos, as well as writing and viewing news.

The iPhone 6 Plus is very smooth and thin, and has rounded corners, and I found it difficult to keep from dropping it. Putting on a "rubbery" case made a huge difference in my ease of use, and my confidence in handling it. I advise ordering an inexpensive $3 to $5 rubbery case before you get the phone, so that you don't ever have to handle the "naked" phone at all.

I have the 6+ and my daughter has the 6. The  6 + battery life is very useful, easily lasts 24 hours with fairly heavy use. Using the 6+ one handed is a bit of a chore,

It vries a lot.

I have the TomTom navigation app, which simply looks better on the larger screen.

I have a database app that just is enlarged, and looks peculiarly large.

The built-in apps, of course, generally take good advantage of the extra screen real estate. I'm sure more and more of third-party apps will over time.

Data apps, like wikipedia, put more data on the screen.
Most weather apps seem to do likewise.

Jim, I may be upgrading from my 5S in a few months.  Have apps "taken advantage" of the extra screen real estate, by adding more information per page, or is the same amount of info just "bigger" to fill the screen?

Thanks,

Ken

I will be buying a new iPhone is June and would like some opinions from iPhone 6+ owners about their phones. Specifically, how do you like the larger phone? Do you find its size cumbersome or convenient?

I bought the 6+ mainly for 3 reasons.

1. Apple Pay (an upgrade from my 5S, but present as well on the 6).

2. I've been a photographer for over 50 years, and this is the first iPhone to offer optical image stabilization (i.e., that isn't available even on the 6.

3. It can do full HD (1920x1080) display, for watching a movie on the iPhone.

I now find that a number of apps look better and are easier to work with than on my previous 5S.

Re: [apple-iphone] iPhone 6 or 6+

Yep.
I just got my 6+ a few weeks ago. I previously had a 4S and have a 5S for work.
The 6+ first *felt* big and heavy to me, but now I love it and the 5S seems tiny to me.
The screen size is well worth it. Now I need to get a bigger purse, but I'm OK with that.

I love the 6+. Don't think I could go back to a smaller size. I've got no problem using it one handed.

Please explain "using their cell-phone one-handed" a lot.

I only know a couple of people who like the 6 better because it fits into the cellphone pocket of their purses or need to use their phone one-handed a lot.
