Re: [apple-iphone] Re: Stubborn Icon
Connect your iPhone to iTunes.
Then use the apps section of iTunes to uninstall the app.
Then click apply to sync your iPhone.
That should remove the icon & the app from your iPhone.

Re: [apple-iphone] Messages don't come in order
Take a look at the Mailbox app. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mailbox/id576502633?mt=8 I've switched to it exclusively on the phone.
I did use it but have forgotten why I quit; there was an issue. Do you think that is why my phone has this behavior?Have you considered using the Gmail app? It works much better that the built-in app.BrentL

Re: [apple-iphone] Music not syncing
just Google senuti - it will show up in the Google search and there's a free trial for 30 days and 1000 songs that you can use. It's very easy - I just used it myself to put music from an old iPod onto my newer computer.

Actually I've got four computers all containing little bits of info. Once I get organized I want to transfer every-thing to my latest MacBook Pro and back it up to the time machine and get rid of all the junk. Thing is I don't get the time. But more of that anon.Right now I tried to find senuti in the ap store but couldn't. As I said right in the beginning I transferred the music from my wife's computer to my iPhone and then from my iPhone to the other computers. now for some reason it's not going on to the latest MacBook Pro. how do I transfer it to the MacBook Pro? The only thing you say is to copy it from the old computer to the new one - okay how do I do that? Sorry to sound like an absolute novice but I am one at least as far as apple is concerned. You can use Senuti (I think there are other similar apps) to copy music *from* an iDevice *to* iTunes, but my question always is, if you didn't copy or migrate your iTunes content from your old computer to your new one, what did you do with all your other files?OttoOn 23 October 2013 18:50, Archie C Grapa <archiegrapa@yahoo.com> wrote:
How come I did not read Sanjaya's reply? Anyway, Otto is right. It has been like that ever since. I think it's Apple's anti-piracy thing. Although I really doubt its effectiveness at that.
So the best thing (and only thing) you can do is copy all the music from your old computer to your new one.

Re: [apple-iphone] How to... Remove Apps?
Cheers,
Also, there is a way to Hide apps you will never use again. You know the ones you tried and hate. Go to your Account in iTunes > Purchased > Edit and select Hide.I'm writing that from memory, but that should be close enough. You will not be bothered in iTunes to keep it up to date there either.BrentOn Oct 30, 2013, at 9:12 AM, Jim Saklad wrote:> You must remove app from iTune also else you will get updates. Open iTune and click on App (not device's App) then delete it from there. It will remove permanently. I do the same when I want to remove any App permanently.
That method *does* work, but it is unnecessary to go that far.
Do not *automatically* iTunes-sync your iPhone on connection to your computer, and remove the app from the list, in iTunes, of apps to be synced to your iPhone when you do so manually.

[apple-iphone] Re: Stubborn Icon
Yes, many people are telling me to reboot -- which is the first thing I
tried but to no avail. How about some different suggestions. Anyone?

I told them to turn it off, since I don't want a $1,100.00 monthly phone
bills. My brother conned our mom into signing up for 5 smart and 1 plain
cell phones. His family sat in living room and ran up texting bill.
Guess who is struggling to pay @ $40.00 a month on $700.00 ssi?

RE: RE: Re: [apple-iphone] Is a Data Plan necessary?
There is one thing I missed with the last post. The iPhone must support The GSM bands to make this work. All AT&T phones work just fine. Some Verizon and Sprint phones do not support GSM so make sure the phone does, or T-Mobile can not help you.

Before T-Mobile was able to sell the iPhone new, they made the official statement that there were more than a million iPhones on their network. If you had gone to their website at that time, there was a page that told you exactly how to do it. This is what started their "bring your own device" plans.
If you have an older Sim and need a smaller one, there is no need to cut the one you have. Just take it to a T-Mobile store and they will copy the old one onto a new one and charge you almost nothing. On the other hand, if you do not live close to a store, the Sim cutter works just fine.
We have have been purchasing used iPhones since the 3G came out and all are working fine on T-Mobile. You do need to get them unlocked but once a phone is off contract, that is no problem. The newest one is a iPhone 4S so I have not personally tried a 5 or 5S but T-Mobile sold those, so there should be no problem.
The other obvious advantage of carrying an unlocked phone is the ability to use it in another country by purchasing a local Sim card and putting it in your phone. I am headed to Mexico on Friday and have purchased a Telcel Sim card for my phone. Once we cross the border, I will change the Sim and have a local phone.
Telcel has a very interesting way of doing data plans. You text a code to 5050 and that signs you up for a data plan. The code tells them how much data you want. It can be for a day, week, 1/2 month, or a month with differing amounts of data for each one.
In the past, putting money into your account with Telcel was a problem once you leave Mexico. It is normally done over the counter with cash at your local grocery store in Mexico. There is very little use of credit cards so doing it over the internet was hard. Telcel changed their web site last year to allow credit cards or you can use something like www.pinzoo.com.

My wife did not need data for the first several years but she started to use her iPhone and iPad on our WiFi network and wanted to know why it did not work once she left the house. My solution was to purchase a FreedomPop Pro for her. This is a cell phone hotspot that runs on the 3G/4G Sprint/Clear network. The charge is $4 per month for 500 Megs of data. They give you the option to collect friends and each one gives you another 50 Megs of data with a maximum of 1 Gig per month. So far she has not gotten close to using it all up. If she starts watching movies it might change but I have warned her about that.
Call me cheap but I hate making big payments to a Tel-co.
