If you use IMAP they stay on the server and all you devices can access them, unless you move them to a folder not on the server or delete them.

With POP they are only available to the first device that accesses them.

I only deleted about 2% of my email, in better than a decade. My email has never stopped. I have only had 32 Mb iPhones, and I always have music, audiobooks and movies on it.

I believe something else caused the email stoppage for you.

When my desk computer wasn't working, I was only able to use my iPhone for email for a week or so before the messages filled the memory and email stopped working completely.

2. I review email on iPhone when I'm away from home and respond to anything urgent (and delete the "spam") but it disappears from the iPhone when I start up my desk computer and it downloads all the messages.

3. All I want to do is retain some brief information (actually a paragraph of the Building Regulations, Part M) on my phone. Having a separate device would defeat the purpose, which is to have the information readily available.

Do you do email on the iPhone?
