Was this all done using a Mac or a Windows computer?
If a Mac, with a recent version of macOS, you can use AirDrop to move images between Macs and iOS devices, or just between different iOS devices.
This weekend my brother and his wife asked me to work on some Apple upgrade issues and we ran into problems as those functions would normally have been done in iTunes. They no longer let you download iTunes so we could not complete the upgrade.
The first issue relates to pictures. Several years ago I used iTunes to copy over 3000 pictures to a hard drive because a iPhone had filled up. They now wanted to edit those pictures on an iPad. I had to download some after market software to copy the pictures back onto the iPad as iTunes is no longer available.. Once they were on the iPad you could see the pictures in the Gallery but the delete button was missing. If the pictures had been taken on the iPad, they would let you delete. Since they were copied onto the iPad you cannot delete them.
The second issue relates to music. My brother had a number of CDs that he had use iTunes to rip and stored on an iPhone 6. He wanted to move that music which was legally paid for, onto his iPhone 8. We could not do that either. There is after market software to do that but it costs like $40.
