> I'd like to know also. I do not work to spend $1000 just for the phone since I'll be buying outright. I know it will cost me over $1000 for an iPhone 8 Plus including buying a sim and activation but with the iPhone X, $1000 is just for the phone before tax.

I'm buying an X-phone using Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program.
My iPhone 6+ is almost 3 years old, so I had planned for months to upgrade this fall. The 6+ works well in my (large) hands, so I was not looking at the 8. My choice was the 8+ or the X.
The difference between the two in cost, on the Upgrade Program, is less than 35¢ per day. I think I can afford that.
