Apple claims the iPhone is rated IP67 . That is an international standard. Apple does not seem to warranty the claim but they do *make* it.

"Your iPhone is splash, water, and dust resistant and was tested under controlled laboratory conditions with a rating of IP67 under IEC standard 60529"


Time (and others) quote the international standard:
"a device rated 7 should be able to withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter, or 3.28 feet, for up to 30 minutes. "
