Re: [apple-iphone] Digest Number 4460

Carolann, first you say they came from Audible, then you say they came from Audiobooks, two different companies.

Both should work the same way. I'm using 10.7.5 and iTunes 12.0.1, so it might change a little with newer versions.

- You import or "add to library" them into iTunes, which will place a copy in your iTune library.
- Go to your Books in iTunes, and check My Audiobooks (generic, all audio books) and make sure the books are there.
- Since I have over 800 audio books in my library, I set up a Playlist just for my iPhone, rather than syncing all of them to the phone.
- Connect your iPhone to your MBA, click on the iPhone icon, then on Audiobooks in the left column. Check Sync Audiobooks, click radio button Selected audiobooks, scroll down to Include Audiobooks from Playlists and check the one with your audiobooks.
(If you uncheck the Sync Audiobooks, you will get a warning that it will erase all the books, but only on the phone.)

-Go back to your Books/ My Audiobooks, click and hold on the audio book you want to add to the Playlist and drag it to the left. The Playlists should appear and drop it on the correct Playlist.
- Now sync your iPhone.

When you are finished listening to the books on your iPhone, delete them from the Playlist in iTunes and it will remove them from the iPhone the next time you sync it.

These instructions should work with audio books from any source, unless there is some sort of copyright restrictions on them. Since you purchased the books, you should have a license to use them.

I tried what you suggested. I now have the books on the desktop. They are also in iTunes and can be listened to there. I still can't figure out how to get them to the iPhone. I did sync. The two previous books I had finished are still there but the 3 new ones still don't show up. The problem is probably because I did not buy them through iTunes. I got them through audiobooks.com (which I understand may now be a part of Amazon.) That used to work. They show up in a file "Recently Added" in the Audiobooks section. "Recently Purchased" has them along with 40 or so others I already had there. Only about 8 of those are on the phone. When I click on the Audiobook app on the phone, they show the older two, but not the new ones.
