Ellen, I also have two accounts, having had one since before I ever had any i-devices. Then I needed an icloud account for reliable syncing of all of my data across my Mac, my iPhone and my iPad.
I'm thinking that the new iOS with its family sharing feature is going to make life much easier. I'm planning to put the two accounts into that and hope that solves the problem.
