Re: [apple-iphone] Are iMessages free?

Serial ATA (SATA) is an IDE standard for connecting devices like optical drives and hard drives to the motherboard. The term SATA generally refers to the types of cables and connections that follow this standard.

I have not heard of any wireless Sata connection.

Wi-Fi, also spelled Wifi or WiFi, is a technology that allows an electronic device to exchange data or connect to the internet wirelessly using microwaves in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It is part of IEEE 802.11 standards.

WiFi is not phone data service. In the case of iMessage, it is a means to connect to the internet other than with cellular data.

A normal iMessage setup will send messages over the cellular data system if Wifi is not available, charging only for the actual data used.
