When Audible came out with the same feature, I thought it would be great, since I am on the road a lot and only have room for so many books on my iDevices. Turns out it is a big waste of time. It is too difficult to download a book away from my home WiFi network. Too many public WiFi access points have a limit on how much you can download.
Now podcasts are smaller and should not see that problem, but unless you are on the road a lot, you can accomplish that with a tiny bit of planning. I'd rather have it all in one place, one app. It is not like you can use Music and Video and Podcast all at the same time.

Well, the Podcast app does do one thing that the regular music app doesn't....
I can download podcasts on the Podcast app BEFORE I can download them in the iTunes app, on the phone.
For some reason, certain podcasts that I listen to always seem to post to the iTunes program on the computer, (the PC that I sync my iPhone/iPad to), a full day before they are available on the iTunes app on the iPhone itself. I don't know why this is, but it just is.
I get the email notifying me of a new podcast from the podcaster the day it is released. It is NOT on iTunes on the iPhone. It IS listed on iTunes on the PC. It is NOW listed in the Podcast app on the iPhone. So this is a plus...
In the new podcast app, I can download these podcasts as soon as they are released. Not a day later....
Other than that, the Podcast app is very slow, and it also locks up quite often...
